Kansas City, Mo. – The Hannibal-LaGrange women's golf team traveled to Kansas City, Missouri to compete in tournament at Swope Memorial Golf Course which was hosted by Avila University.  The tournament ended up being a dual with the host school versus HLGU.

On the first day of the event, Julianna Brown (SR/Little Rock, Ark.) won the stroke play with the lowest score of 93.  Lynzie Emerson (FR/Williamsville, Ill.) came in tied for second place one stroke behind with a 94.  Kyla Swanson (JR/Marceline, Mo.), Andrea Sapaugh (FR/Rolla, Mo.), and Kelcie Orr (SO/Cedar Hill, Mo.) all shot identical scores of 114.  Avila won by a team score of 382 over the Trojans 415.

The coaches met after the first day and decided to change the event to match play on the second day.  Below is a listing of how the match play finished:

Abby Clark (Avila) defeats Julianna Brown (HLGU), 1 up**
**Clark defeated Brown on the first sudden death playoff hole (10th hole)

Avila's Abby Clark defeated Brown on the first playoff hole (Hole 10) to claim the individual first place title which moved Brown to second place over the two day event.

Coach Thomas Brennan added, "I was happy with the way the girls performed this week.  Juli, Lynzie, and Andrea played very solid for us.  It was nice to see Andrea take some positive steps forward as her consistency is getting better."

The ladies will complete in their final tournament of the fall season on October 24-25 when they play in the Columbia College Invitational.  The event will be played at the Columbia Country Club in Columbia, Missouri.
