Columbia, Mo. - The Hannibal-LaGrange women's volleyball team traveled to Columbia, Missouri to play against AMC opponent Columbia College. Columbia is currently ranked in the NAIA top 25 after winning the National Championship last season.
HLGU had a strong start to the first set with the game tied six all. But things changed quickly as the Cougars almost doubled the score before the Trojans scored again (13-7). The set ended with CC winning 25-15. Game two saw the ladies tied up at seven before Columbia pulled away and won 25-11. In the third set the women's team took a 5-3 lead before the Cougars finished out the set 25-11.
Khristina Schellentrager (SR/Catheys Valley, Calif.) led the Trojans with 10 kills on the night and she was followed by Melissa Ryan (FR/Plainfield, Ill.) with five. Lindsay Fisher (SR/Temecula Valley, Calif.) led on the defensive side of the ball with six digs while Emily Pfeiffer (JR/Springfield, Ill.) set up 17 assists.
HLGU will be on the road on Thursday, October 27 at 7 p.m. in Columbia, Missouri to play against Stephens College. The Trojans will be back at home to celebrate senior day on Saturday, October 29 at 1 p.m. The ladies will be playing against Lincoln Christian University.
