Hannibal, Mo. - The Hannibal-LaGrange University women's volleyball program is very excited to announce their 2017 recruiting class, adding considerable talent to each position. With seven solid returners and the addition of these ten student-athletes, the Trojans will be poised to compete well in the competitive American Midwest Conference. The Trojans will have five sophomores, many of which contributed to the program last year. Coach King added, "With a season of competition under their belts and after our spring workouts, I think they will be much more prepared to have a bigger impact on the program in 2017." As these quality student-athletes compete for the same purpose and goal, excitement is growing for the near and distant future of HLGU volleyball.
HLGU cannot wait to have these ten student-athletes unite with the Trojan family! They not only will help improve the volleyball program, but they are all great young women that will represent Hannibal-LaGrange well.
*Below is a list of the signed athletes with a note from Coach King.
Jacy Allen – 6'3" MB
Jacy will be a great threat on defense at the net, which is an area that our program needs to have a huge improvement from last season in order to see some success. I am really excited to see what Jacy can do for this program over the next four years.
Janine Crooks – 5'10" MB/OH
Janine has a work ethic and intensity that this program needs. Every time she steps in the gym, Janine gives 100%. She will be a great leader by example and she has a very good possibility of immediately having a big impact on this program.
Madison Green – 5'2" DS
Madison is an excellent fit for our program. She works really hard, so I am excited to see the improvement she will make here at HLGU and how that will help our program over the four years she is here.
Ashlee Greenway – 5'5" DS
Ashlee is very athletic and competitive. She is going to raise the level of competition in the gym and for the libero position immediately. She is a great addition to our program.
Hannah Killian – 5'5" DS - Transfer
Hannah transferred into HLGU this spring and will compete with us in the fall. She has played the past three seasons as the libero at Crowley's Ridge College, so she is already adjusted to college game and we will look to her for leadership.
Demmie Long – 5'6" S/DS - Transfer
Demmie comes to us from a successful JUCO program. She recently finished her recovery from a tough injury and her passion to get back into the game is incredible. She is going to be another great option in the setting and defensive positions.
Ally Richterkessing – 5'6" Setter
Ally will be a great option in the setter position. She knows what competing at the collegiate level takes and I know she will be ready to go when she gets here. She has a great attitude and she is another great fit for our program.
Bergen Teeter – 6' OH
Bergen comes to us knowing what it takes to succeed and she works really hard to continually improve. She will add height to our roster and will help make us a more physical team. She also is very versatile and can play many different positions, if needed.
Maggie Vert – 5'10" OH
Maggie is someone that we are going to look to help fill the void of graduating both of our outside hitters from last season. She has had a lot of success in her previous programs, which we hope continues here at HLGU.
Lexie Winfree -5'10" OH
Lexie is going to be another great option in the front row for us. She works hard and has a great attitude and will be a great fit with the group we have.
