Hannibal, MO - The seasons concluded for both the men's and women's basketball team and post season awards were handed out this week from the American Midwest Conference (AMC). Three Trojans received conference recognition for the work they put in on the court this past season. Seniors Sarah Cline, D'Avonte Garland, and De'Shawn Terrell were all honored with All-Conference Honorable Mention.
On the women's side of the game, Cline led the Trojans this past season averaging 13.6 points and 7.1 rebounds a game. She also collected 105 assists and 29 steals on the season. Cline added, "I'm very thankful for the opportunity to play at HLGU. I'm grateful for my coaches and teammates who have helped me grow as a player." Coach Kelly Quigle shared, "I am excited to see Sarah get recognized by the AMC this year. She had a great senior season and is very deserving of this honor."
On the men's side, Garland averaged 13.8 points and 5.1 rebounds a game. He also dished out 77 assists. Garland added, "I'm very grateful for the coaching staff here for allowing me to finish my collegiate career at HLGU! I've enjoyed my time here with my teammates thorugh the ups and downs, smiles & frowns, and I'm proud of all we were able to accomplish together in a HLGU uniform."
Terrell chipped in 12.8 points a game while shooting a blazing 47% from behind the arc. He also snagged 41 steals and collected 72 assists. Upon recevining this honor, Terrell shared, "I'm honored and grateful to receive this award. Blessed to be apart of a class with my peers who were honored with the same and higher accolades. Nice way to end my college career with."
