Columbia, Mo. - The Trojans traveled to Columbia College for another AMC matchup. Coming into the game, the Cougars were ranked #2 in the NAIA and #1 in the AMC. The Trojans came in ranked 7th in the AMC. The Cougars completed a sweep winning both games 11-0 and 9-1.
In game one, all of the scoring took place in the first three innings of the game. Unfortunately, the Cougars fought through the Trojans defense and scored seven runs in the of the bottom of the third inning. Both Madison Ingram (FR/Bowling Green, Mo.) and Bobbie Henderson (SR/Liberty, Mo.) took turns on the mound for the Trojans and combined for four strikeouts.
Game two started off different for the Trojans as they scored right out of the gate. Columbia's bats came alive in the fifth inning where they knocked in four runs which ultimately led to the final score 9-1. Haley Zeier (SR/Edwardsville, Ill.) recorded the lone RBI for the Trojans. Henderson started on the mound for the Trojans as Jordyn Alford (SO/St. Jacob, Ill.) finished.
The Trojans look to rebound as they take on Freed-Hardeman University tomorrow, April 15 at home. The double header will start at noon. They will play at home again on Tuesday, April 18 as they host Harris-Stowe State University in their annual Strike Out Cancer Pink Game.
