Hannibal, Mo. – The Hannibal-LaGrange Men's Basketball team is pleased to announce the signing of Carter McDowell from Jacksonville, Illinois.  McDowell is the son of Mary and Jason McDowell and he plays for Westfair Christian Academy as a guard.

Coach Jason McDowell, his father and high school coach stated, "I am excited to see Carter play for HLGU.  I know their program will help him improve as a player and a man."

McDowell is very active at WCA being part of the National Honor Society (2015-2017) and receiving the Rotary Student Athlete Award.  As a basketball player he averaged 11.2 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, 3.2 steals per game, and 3.5 assists per game.  McDowell has received several All-Tournament Team Awards as well as being the team MVP, assist leader, and steals leader.

He plans on majoring in Biology once enrolled at HLGU.

"Carter is a motivated player and displays the work ethic needed to be a successful student-athlete at the collegiate level.  I am excited to add him to our basketball program and look forward to seeing him develop here at HLGU," shared Coach Jason Durst.
