Hannibal, Mo. – The Hannibal-LaGrange University Baseball Team recently signed Austin Shaw from St. Mary High School. Shaw is the son of Carla and Steve Shaw of Paducah, Kentucky. He will be transferring in from Olney Central Community College where he pitched 30 innings last season.
Shaw found success in high school where he amassed a 1.75 career ERA. At one point during his junior year he went 44 consecutive innings without giving up an earned run. As an upperclassman, he went 102 innings and had 128 strike outs. Shaw played in several All-District, All-Region, and All-State games. In high school he was part of the Spanish Club and the History Club as well as being selected to the National Honor Society.
He plans to finish his degree in the HLGU Nursing program and hopes to graduate within the next two years.
Coach Ben Strother added, "Austin comes in to fill a big gap in our roster – starting pitching. We see in Austin a young man eager to go out and throw. Furthermore, he is laser-focused to be a great pitcher, we see him getting a lot of innings on the mound next year and are excited about the maturity he will bring to our entire pitching staff."
