Jason Scott joined the Trojans in 2009 as the assistant cross country and track & field coach. He works in the area of sprints, hurdles, field events, and multi-events. Scott graduated from Cedarville University in 2007 and has been an assistant coach there for the last two years where he was in charge of the hurdles and pole vault.
During his time at Cedarville, Scott had seven athletes qualify for NAIA Nationals with three of them placing in the top three. Scott himself was a three-time NAIA National Champion in the pole vault. He was the outdoor champion as a freshman in 2004 and claimed the indoor title as a junior and senior. He earned NAIA Indoor All-American honors all four years of his career and he was a two-time Outdoor All-American. In 2007, Scott represented the United States in Taiwan at the Chinese Taipei International Athletic Meet in the pole vault event. Most recently, he had much success at the 2009 Indoor USA National Championships where he placed fourth. Currently, Scott is still competing and working towards making the 2012 Olympics team in the pole vault. Some of his best marks are (17'8.5") in the pole vault, (14.31) in the 110 high hurdles, (23'10") in the long jump, and (183') in the javelin.
Scott resides in Hannibal with his wife Bethany, who will be working with the HLG sprinters and middle distance runners as a volunteer assistant coach.
